Rex Ryan is a Fat Hypocrite
Ok. Admittedly that title does not really reflect how I feel or what this article is about. But I need an attention grabber, I knew here. Plus I don't think anyone is reading this except my friend Jeff. Hi Jeff.
So during one of the episodes of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets Rex Ryan thought his team needed some spark. He set up a fight between an offensive lineman and a defensive player to "get the team riled up". It worked. Everyone got fired up and the episode ended with everyone smiling and laughing.
Flash forward to today and 3 fights later the Jets are doing Gassers or wind sprints as punishment.
Do I think this is a big deal? No. First off, training camp has mad players there that won't be there in 2 weeks. A lot of these guys are trying to get noticed, so they are trying to pull a Rudy. But no one is laying their jerseys down for Caleb Schlauderaff.
I didn't like the fight from Joe McKnight but thats because he was acting like a monday. The rest of this is just preseason nonsense. Don't worry folks, we are right on track.

Why the Jet's kicker competition is so fucking important.
Since the Sanchez era began in 2009 the New York Jets have played 48 regular season games and 6 Playoff games. Of those 54 total games played 21 games have been decided by 6 points or less. That is 38.8% of the games over the past three years have been decided by 2 field goals or less. In the NFL today a win here or a loss there is the difference between the playoffs and early tee times.
It has been a very long time since the Jets have had a consistent kicker on their roster. Jay Feely leads the Jets in regards to fantasy points averaging 7.52 points a game over his 31 game career with the team. Mike Nugent ended up being a waste of a 2nd round pick that never panned out. John Hall was the last kicker in my mind who was a threat throughout the season. Although that may only be because he was the only kicker who could throw his body around.
So that leads us to the current competition between current incumbent Nick "weird head" Folk and Josh "$$" Brown. Folk had his moments last year but was as inconsistent as a NY Jets Kicker can be. Josh Brown has a 81% kicker percentage vs Folk who has 78%. We have 4 weeks to see how this pans out and I welcome the competition and to be honest hope that Josh Brown beats out Folk. The Jets need consistency. Unless Folk has decides to wear his big kid pants this year, I think its time to look in a new direction. Because no matter how well they play you know its going to come down to the 4th Quarter, down by 3, 0:03 on the clock and we have a 48 yard kick to send it to OT.

Fight Club
So it looks like a fight broke out at Jets camp today. The fight allegedly was started by Joe McKnight after he was shoved out of bounds by RB coach Anthony Lynn's son D'Anton Lynn.
Joe Mcknigh is a bum. He has done nothing for this team except block one punt a year ago. I understand that it is hot out there and tempers can get fired up when your running these drills, but to start a fight in front of reporters and fans is ridiculous. What a nermal.
The Jets traded up to get this a hole and he has amounted to nothing but a so so special teams player. His attitude has never been good and in addition he continues to show up to camp not in shape.
With the recent induction of Curtin Martin into the Hall of Fame it really highlights the juxtaposition of good and shitty runningbacks in this league and on the Jets.
Enjoy meritocracy Joe, the Tampa bay Bucs look forward to seeing you next year.

Curtis Martin Hall of Famer...obviously
So Curtis "my favorite" Martin was inducted into the Hall of Fame this weekend.
Stats as a New York Jet:
Games Played: 123
Games Started: 123 (WOW)
Yards: 10,302
TD: 58
Yds per game: 83.8
Fumbles 17, but he recovered 10 of them!
Curtis Martin is probably one of my favorite Jets of all time. He is a class act and always played with integrity and distinction. Good Job C MART! See you week 1 when the Jets retire your number.
