ESPN Insider and master Windsor knot tie wearer Adam Schefter reported today that there was talks between the Jets and Jaguars for a trade that would send Maurice Jones Drew to the Jets in return for any runningback and Tebowtime. Which apparently the Jets declined. Now I don't put too much stock in what rumors I hear on ESPN, however if this is the truth, I would have to serious question the thought process of Mike Tannenbaum and Management. Obviously MJD demands a huge contract which is an issue because the Jets haven't even paid Revis yet, but Come'on man. Work something out. We all respect your attempt to recreate the game by bringing in Tebow as a punt blocker/quarterback/runningback/jersey seller, but give us a break. MJD would SOLIDIFY your Ground and Pound message!! But alas, rumors are rumors and we are stuck with the Greene/Powell/McTrash combo.

Chad Pennington to Visit with Jets QBs

The list of my favorite Jets players is not a long one. I have already discussed 2 of them in previous posts. Todays lets discuss another of my favs. Chad "rocket arm" Pennington. Now many of you may get the joke about calling him rocket arm. Chad was always critized for not having a strong arm. Not being able to chuck the ball down the field. But when I say rocket arm, I am talking more about a surface to target missile. Chad's accuracy was outstanding. Today he leads the NFL record books as the most accurate passer in history with a completion percentage of 66%.
Chad did what he could with what was around him and he did a very good job of it. He worked his ass off and played the game his way and was successful to an extent. I was a bit bummed the way the Jets cast him away for the likes of Big Time Brett Favre. And to be honest was a bit happy when Chad came back in the last week of the season to beat the Jets and bring the Dolphins to the playoffs.

That being said, this class act of a players is coming to Cortland for the day to speak with the QBs. I couldn't think of a better player to give advise on how to work with 1. Tony Sparano and 2. Be a successfull QB in the NFL and New York. I'm happy to see Chad back and wouldnt be to upset if he threw on old #10 and tossed a couple of slow lobs to Dustin Keller.

Bengals Preview: Preseason Game 1

                                                 J E T S JETS JETS JETS!!!

It's time for the preseason. As much as I find the preseason useless, long and boring it does serve a purpose. It allows us to see how scrubby our 2nd and 3rd teams actually are. But every so often we get a good look at a up and coming star i.e. Danny Woodhead (released) and The Terminator John Connor.

On the eve of the 1st game there are a few things we should take notice of:

-How does Sanchez look in a game environment. Its been a long circus of an offseason and this will be a good opportunity to see if Sanchez has taken a step forward or if there is still a lot of work ahead of him. If he plays 1 quarter we should hope for crisp completions and no sacks. I would like 4-6, 40+ yards.

-Is Stephen Hill really a NFL wide receiver. Hill has the body of an all pro wide receiver ( 6'4, 215, 33 3/8 arm length) but he played for a triple option offense at Georgia Tech. He caught a total of 49 passes through 3 seasons. He is a deep threat option but there is questions surrounding his abilities.

-Can Big Red (Andy Dalton) follow up his performance from last year. The Bengals made it to the playoffs but were promptly bounced by the Houston Texans. If there could be an award for making it to the playoffs and promptly losing, it would go to the Bengals. They have mastered that talent. Dalton is definitely a pro quarterback and has the pieces to make a run again, however its Baltimore, so who knows.

Regardless of everything above it is good to be back talking about football. With the Mets taking their annual dive the Jets preseason couldn't have come at a better time.

Like a Boss

Just a reminder what a Boss looks like:

Rex Ryan is a Fat Hypocrite

Ok. Admittedly that title does not really reflect how I feel or what this article is about. But I need an attention grabber, I knew here. Plus I don't think anyone is reading this except my friend Jeff. Hi Jeff.

So during one of the episodes of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets Rex Ryan thought his team needed some spark. He set up a fight between an offensive lineman and a defensive player to "get the team riled up". It worked. Everyone got fired up and the episode ended with everyone smiling and laughing.

Flash forward to today and 3 fights later the Jets are doing Gassers or wind sprints as punishment.

Do I think this is a big deal? No. First off, training camp has mad players there that won't be there in 2 weeks. A lot of these guys are trying to get noticed, so they are trying to pull a Rudy. But no one is laying their jerseys down for Caleb Schlauderaff.

I didn't like the fight from Joe McKnight but thats because he was acting like a monday. The rest of this is just preseason nonsense. Don't worry folks, we are right on track.

Why the Jet's kicker competition is so fucking important.

Since the Sanchez era began in 2009 the New York Jets have played 48 regular season games and 6 Playoff games. Of those 54 total games played 21 games have been decided by 6 points or less. That is 38.8% of the games over the past three years have been decided by 2 field goals or less. In the NFL today a win here or a loss there is the difference between the playoffs and early tee times.

It has been a very long time since the Jets have had a consistent kicker on their roster. Jay Feely leads the Jets in regards to fantasy points averaging 7.52 points a game over his 31 game career with the team. Mike Nugent ended up being a waste of a 2nd round pick that never panned out. John Hall was the last kicker in my mind who was a threat throughout the season. Although that may only be because he was the only kicker who could throw his body around.

So that leads us to the current competition between current incumbent Nick "weird head" Folk and Josh "$$" Brown. Folk had his moments last year but was as inconsistent as a NY Jets Kicker can be. Josh Brown has a 81% kicker percentage vs Folk who has 78%. We have 4 weeks to see how this pans out and I welcome the competition and to be honest hope that Josh Brown beats out Folk. The Jets need consistency. Unless Folk has decides to wear his big kid pants this year, I think its time to look in a new direction. Because no matter how well they play you know its going to come down to the 4th Quarter, down by 3, 0:03 on the clock and we have a 48 yard kick to send it to OT.

Fight Club

So it looks like a fight broke out at Jets camp today. The fight allegedly was started by Joe McKnight after he was shoved out of bounds by RB coach Anthony Lynn's son D'Anton Lynn.

Joe Mcknigh is a bum. He has done nothing for this team except block one punt a year ago. I understand that it is hot out there and tempers can get fired up when your running these drills, but to start a fight in front of reporters and fans is ridiculous. What a nermal.

The Jets traded up to get this a hole and he has amounted to nothing but a so so special teams player. His attitude has never been good and in addition he continues to show up to camp not in shape.

With the recent induction of Curtin Martin into the Hall of Fame it really highlights the juxtaposition of good and shitty runningbacks in this league and on the Jets.

Enjoy meritocracy Joe, the Tampa bay Bucs look forward to seeing you next year.

Tim Tebow has Dyslexia

I wonder if because of his Dyslexia he thinks his passer completion rating of 47% is really 74%?

Curtis Martin Hall of Famer...obviously

So Curtis "my favorite" Martin was inducted into the Hall of Fame this weekend.

Stats as a New York Jet:

Games Played: 123
Games Started: 123 (WOW)
Yards: 10,302
TD: 58
Yds per game: 83.8

Fumbles 17, but he recovered 10 of them!

Curtis Martin is probably one of my favorite Jets of all time. He is a class act and always played with integrity and distinction. Good Job C MART! See you week 1 when the Jets retire your number.
